 ANTIRHEUMATICS  :: 

The drugs used to relieve or used in the treatment of rheumatism are known as antirheumatics Rheumatism (Greek : Rheuma : flowing and ismos - condition ) is characterised by soreness stiffness of muscles and pain in joints and associated structures including arthritis .

            The modern analgesics and anti-inflammatory agents (like analgin oxyphenbutazone etc .) used to treat the rheumatism are from synthetic sources However the salicylic acid derivatives or salicylates commonly used for the purpose were originally obtained from the plant source i.e. white willow (Salix alba Vulgaris ) in the form of salicin a bitter glycoside .

        The herbal antirheumatics which are effectively used in rheumatism now - a- days -are as follows :: 

Guggul (Commiphora mukul ) 

Salai  ( Boswelia seratta ) 

Nirgundo (Vitex - nirgundo) 

Jatamansi ( Nardostachys jatamansi ) 

Colchicum ( Colchicum luteum )

एंटीह्यूमेटिक्स ::

गठिया से राहत पाने या उसके इलाज में इस्तेमाल होने वाली दवाओं को एंटीह्यूमेटिक्स कहा जाता है। गठिया (ग्रीक: Rheuma: बहना और इस्मोस - हालत) की पहचान मांसपेशियों में दर्द, अकड़न और जोड़ों और उससे जुड़ी चीज़ों में दर्द से होती है, जिसमें आर्थराइटिस भी शामिल है।

गठिया के इलाज के लिए इस्तेमाल होने वाले मॉडर्न एनाल्जेसिक और एंटी-इंफ्लेमेटरी एजेंट (जैसे एनालगिन ऑक्सीफेनबुटाज़ोन वगैरह) सिंथेटिक सोर्स से आते हैं। हालांकि, इस मकसद के लिए आमतौर पर इस्तेमाल होने वाले सैलिसिलिक एसिड डेरिवेटिव या सैलिसिलेट असल में पौधे के सोर्स यानी सफेद विलो (सैलिक्स अल्बा वल्गेरिस) से सैलिसिन (एक कड़वा ग्लाइकोसाइड) के रूप में मिलते थे। आजकल गठिया में असरदार तरीके से इस्तेमाल होने वाली हर्बल एंटीरूमेटिक्स इस तरह हैं::
