This consists of the aerial parts of the plant known as Canscora decussata (Family : Gentianaceae) . 

Geographical Source :: 

Shankhpushpi is found throughout india upto an altitude of 1300 m it is also grown in sri lanka and myanmar . 

Organoleptic Characters :: 

It is much branched annual propagated by seeds The flowering season of this plant is from october to December The plant is cultivated in the gardens as ornamental plant for its flowers This is an erect annual with four winged stems half a metre in length and decussate branches it grows well in moist situations . 

Leaves sessile 2.5 to 4.0 cm in length lanceolate decussate three prominent verticle lines flowers axilliary solitary white or yellowish .

भौगोलिक स्रोत ::

शंखपुष्पी पूरे भारत में 1300 मीटर की ऊंचाई तक पाई जाती है, यह श्रीलंका और म्यांमार में भी उगाई जाती है।

ऑर्गेनोलेप्टिक लक्षण ::

यह बहुत शाखाओं वाला वार्षिक पौधा है जो बीजों द्वारा फैलता है। इस पौधे का फूल का मौसम अक्टूबर से दिसंबर तक होता है। पौधे को इसके फूलों के लिए सजावटी पौधे के रूप में बगीचों में उगाया जाता है। यह चार पंखों वाले आधे मीटर लंबे और डीक्यूसेट शाखाओं वाला एक सीधा वार्षिक पौधा है, यह नमी वाले हालात में अच्छी तरह बढ़ता है।

पत्तियाँ बिना डंठल वाली 2.5 से 4.0 cm लंबी, भालाकार डीक्यूसेट तीन प्रमुख सीधी रेखाएं, फूल अक्षीय, एकल, सफेद या पीले रंग के होते हैं।
