Principle ::
The size reduction is done by crushing due to heavy weight of stones and shearing force which is involved during the move ment of these stones .
Construction ::
It consists of two heavy rollers and a bed made of stone or granite The rollers have a central shaft and they revolve on its axis The rollers are mounted on a horizontal shaft and move around the bed .
Working ::
The material to be ground is put on the bed and with the help of the scrapers it is kept in the path of the stone wheels The material is ground for a definite period and then it is passed through the sieves to get powder of the required size .
Uses ::
Edge runner mill is used for griading most of the drugs to fine powder but it requires more floor space than other commonly used mills The major advantage of this mill is that it requires less attention .

सिद्धांत ::
पत्थरों के भारी वज़न और इन पत्थरों के हिलने-डुलने के दौरान लगने वाले कतरने वाले बल की वजह से पीसकर साइज़ कम किया जाता है।
बनाने का तरीका ::
इसमें दो भारी रोलर और पत्थर या ग्रेनाइट से बना एक बेड होता है। रोलर में एक बीच का शाफ्ट होता है और वे इसके एक्सिस पर घूमते हैं। रोलर एक हॉरिजॉन्टल शाफ्ट पर लगे होते हैं और बेड के चारों ओर घूमते हैं।
काम करने का तरीका ::
पीसने वाले मटीरियल को बेड पर रखा जाता है और स्क्रैपर की मदद से उसे पत्थर के पहियों के रास्ते में रखा जाता है। मटीरियल को एक तय समय तक पीसा जाता है और फिर उसे ज़रूरी साइज़ का पाउडर बनाने के लिए छलनी से गुज़ारा जाता है।
इस्तेमाल ::
एज रनर मिल का इस्तेमाल ज़्यादातर दवाओं को बारीक पाउडर बनाने के लिए किया जाता है, लेकिन इसके लिए दूसरी आम तौर पर इस्तेमाल होने वाली मिलों के मुकाबले ज़्यादा जगह की ज़रूरत होती है। इस मिल का सबसे बड़ा फ़ायदा यह है कि इसमें कम ध्यान देने की ज़रूरत होती है।
