Aconite consists of dried tuberous roots of Aconitum nepellus Linn (Family : Ranunculaceae) It contains not more than 5 % of aerial stems and not less than 0.6 % of  the alkaloids of aconite of which not less than 30% is aconitine .

Geographical Distribution ::

It is found in North Europe England Hungary Germany and Switzerland .

Cultivation and Collection ::

Due to poor germination rate the plant is not propagated from seeds For cultivation the daughter roots are used The fusiform tuberous roots from which the lateral roots arise are developed into conical daughter tubercles There are several species of aconite and some of them are free of aconitine Hence the roots from the flowering plants are collected after identification generally in autumn The roots are washed dried and marketed .

खेती और इकट्ठा करना ::

खराब अंकुरण दर के कारण पौधे को बीजों से नहीं उगाया जाता है। खेती के लिए बेटी जड़ों का इस्तेमाल किया जाता है। फ्यूसीफॉर्म कंद वाली जड़ें जिनसे साइड की जड़ें निकलती हैं, वे कोनिकल बेटी ट्यूबरकल में बदल जाती हैं। एकोनाइट की कई किस्में हैं और उनमें से कुछ में एकोनाइटिन नहीं होता है। इसलिए, फूल वाले पौधों से जड़ों को पहचान के बाद आमतौर पर पतझड़ में इकट्ठा किया जाता है। जड़ों को धोकर सुखाया जाता है और मार्केट में बेच दिया जाता है।
