ELIXIRS

 ELIXIRS  :: 

Elixirs are sweet aromatic preparations and are usually coloured The main ingredients of elixirs are ethyl alcohol (4- 40%) water glycerin or propylene glycol flavouring agent syrup and some suitable preservative The medicated elixirs usually contain some very potent drug such as antibiotics antihistamines or sedatives The flavouring elixirs are used as flavours and vehicles The following are examples of some of the the commonly used elixirs . 

SIMPLE ELIXIR I.P. 

Orange tincture   75 ml 

Syrup             400 ml 

Chloroform water sufficient to produce 1000 ml 

Mix the orange tincture with syrup and add sufficient chloroform water to produce the required volume Add talc shake allow to stand for a few hours shaking occasionally and filter . 

TERPIN HYDRATE ELIXIR I.P. 

Terpin hydrate   50 g 

Orange oil         0.2 ml . 

Glycerin            400 ml . 

Alcohol             425 ml . 

Syrup                 100 ml . 

Purified water sufficient to make 1000 ml 

Dissolve the terpin hydrate in the alcohol Add orange oil glycerin syrup and sufficient purified water to make the required volume mix well and filter if necessary . 

PIPERAZINE CITRATE ELIXIR I.P. 

Piperazine citrate 180 g 

Chloroform spirit 5 ml 

Glycerin  100 ml 

Syrup  500 ml 

Purified water sufficient to produce 1000 ml . 

Dissolve the piperazine citrate in part of the purified water Add the orange oil glycerin syrup chloroform spirit and sufficient purified water to produce the required volume .

सिंपल एलिक्सिर I.P.

ऑरेंज टिंचर 75 ml

सिरप 400 ml

1000 ml बनाने के लिए काफ़ी क्लोरोफॉर्म पानी

ऑरेंज टिंचर को सिरप के साथ मिलाएँ और ज़रूरी मात्रा बनाने के लिए काफ़ी क्लोरोफॉर्म पानी मिलाएँ। टैल्क शेक डालें, कुछ घंटों के लिए रख दें, बीच-बीच में हिलाते रहें और फ़िल्टर करें।

टेरपिन हाइड्रेट एलिक्सिर I.P.

टेरपिन हाइड्रेट 50 g

ऑरेंज ऑयल 0.2 ml .

ग्लिसरीन 400 ml .

अल्कोहल 425 ml .

सिरप 100 ml .

1000 ml बनाने के लिए काफ़ी शुद्ध पानी

अल्कोहल में टेरपिन हाइड्रेट घोलें। ऑरेंज ऑयल ग्लिसरीन सिरप और ज़रूरी मात्रा बनाने के लिए काफ़ी शुद्ध पानी डालें, अच्छी तरह मिलाएँ और ज़रूरत हो तो फ़िल्टर करें।

पिपेरज़ीन साइट्रेट एलिक्सिर I.P.

पिपेरज़ीन साइट्रेट 180 g

क्लोरोफ़ॉर्म स्पिरिट 5 ml

ग्लिसरीन 100 ml

सिरप 500 ml

1000 ml बनाने के लिए काफ़ी शुद्ध पानी।

शुद्ध पानी के कुछ हिस्से में पिपेरज़ीन साइट्रेट घोलें। ऑरेंज ऑयल ग्लिसरीन सिरप, क्लोरोफ़ॉर्म स्पिरिट और ज़रूरी मात्रा बनाने के लिए काफ़ी शुद्ध पानी डालें।
