Liquid stage forms are meant for internal parenteral or external use They are available in monophasic or biphasic forms .
MONOPHASIC LIQUID DOSAGE FORMS ::
Monophasic liquid dosage forms are represented by true or colloidal solution The component of the solution which is present in a large quantity is known as solvent whereas the component present in a small quantity is termed as solute water is mainly used as solvent for majority of monophasic liquid dosage forms A solution is homogenous because the solute is in an ionic or molecular form of subdivision in case of colloidal solution the solute are present as aggregates although they oannot be seen by the naked eye or under ordinary microscope monophasic liquid dosage forms are available as :
1. Liquids for internal use e.g. syrups elixirs linctus drops and draughts .
2. Liquids for external use which are of two types ::
(a) Liquids to be applied to the skin e.g. liniments and lotions etc .
(b) Liquids meant for body cavities e.g . gargles throat paints mouth washes eye drops eye lotions ear drops nasal drops sprays and inhalations .

लिक्विड स्टेज फॉर्म इंटरनल, पैरेंट्रल या एक्सटर्नल इस्तेमाल के लिए होते हैं। ये मोनोफ़ेसिक या बाइफ़ेसिक फॉर्म में मिलते हैं।
मोनोफ़ेसिक लिक्विड डोज़ेज फॉर्म ::
मोनोफ़ेसिक लिक्विड डोज़ेज फॉर्म को असली या कोलाइडल सॉल्यूशन से दिखाया जाता है। सॉल्यूशन का जो हिस्सा ज़्यादा मात्रा में होता है, उसे सॉल्वेंट कहते हैं, जबकि कम मात्रा में मौजूद हिस्से को सॉल्यूट कहते हैं। ज़्यादातर मोनोफ़ेसिक लिक्विड डोज़ेज फॉर्म के लिए पानी का इस्तेमाल मुख्य रूप से सॉल्वेंट के तौर पर किया जाता है। सॉल्यूशन होमोजेनस होता है क्योंकि सॉल्यूट आयनिक या मॉलिक्यूलर रूप में होता है। कोलाइडल सॉल्यूशन के मामले में, सॉल्यूट एग्रीगेट के रूप में होते हैं, हालांकि उन्हें नंगी आंखों से या आम माइक्रोस्कोप से नहीं देखा जा सकता है।
मोनोफ़ेसिक लिक्विड डोज़ेज फॉर्म इस तरह मिलते हैं:
1. इंटरनल इस्तेमाल के लिए लिक्विड, जैसे सिरप, एलिक्सिर, लिंक्टस, ड्रॉप्स और ड्राफ्ट। 2. बाहरी इस्तेमाल के लिए लिक्विड जो दो तरह के होते हैं:
(a) स्किन पर लगाने वाले लिक्विड जैसे लिनिमेंट और लोशन वगैरह।
(b) बॉडी कैविटी के लिए लिक्विड जैसे गरारे, गले के पेंट, माउथ वॉश, आई ड्रॉप, आई लोशन, ईयर ड्रॉप, नेज़ल ड्रॉप, स्प्रे और इनहेलेशन।
