TABLETS

 TABLETS :: 

These are solid dosage forms of medicament or medicaments which are prepared by moulding or by compression Certain excipients are also added to the medicaments in the formulation of tablets The compressed tablets are prepared in bulk by the large - scale production methods (Detail is given in the chapter Processing of Tablets ) 

CAPSULES :: 

The capsules are solid unit dosage form in which one or more medicaments and inert substances are enclosed within a small shell generally prepared from a suitable from of gelatin Depending on their formulation the gelatin capsule shell may be hard or soft (Detail is given in the chapter processing of capsules ) 

PILLS :: 

Pill are small rounded solid dosage forms containing medicament and are intended to be administered orally The medicaments are mixed with excipients to form a firm plastic mass The mass is rolled to uniform pill pipe which is cut into a number of pills These are rounded to form pills of uniform size and shape pills are spherical in shape and are produced by rolling them under wooden pill rounder The pills are sometimes coated with varnish silver leaf gold leaf to improve the finish mask the unpleasant tastes and increase stability . 

            In olden days pills were preferred because of their spherical shape which can be easily swallowed But now the pills are outdated preparations because of a number of disadvantages such as : 

1. The disintegration time of pills is uncertain The freshly prepared pills disintegrate readily as compared to the old dried pills The dried pills are less soluble and sometimes pass through G.I.T. without disintegration . 

2. It is difficult to prepare pills of a uniform size . 

3. It is not possible to prepare pills of a uniform weight .

कैप्सूल ::

कैप्सूल सॉलिड यूनिट डोज़ फॉर्म होते हैं जिनमें एक या ज़्यादा दवाइयाँ और इनर्ट सब्सटेंस एक छोटे शेल के अंदर बंद होते हैं जो आमतौर पर जिलेटिन के सही रूप से तैयार किया जाता है। उनके फॉर्मूलेशन के आधार पर जिलेटिन कैप्सूल शेल हार्ड या सॉफ्ट हो सकता है (डिटेल कैप्सूल की प्रोसेसिंग चैप्टर में दी गई है)

पिल्स ::

पिल छोटे गोल सॉलिड डोज़ फॉर्म होते हैं जिनमें दवा होती है और इन्हें मुंह से लेने के लिए बनाया जाता है। दवाइयों को एक्सिपिएंट्स के साथ मिलाकर एक मज़बूत प्लास्टिक मास बनाया जाता है। मास को एक जैसा रोल किया जाता है। पिल पाइप को कई गोलियों में काटा जाता है। इन्हें एक जैसे साइज़ और शेप की गोल ... गोल गोलियां कभी-कभी फिनिश को बेहतर बनाने, खराब स्वाद को छिपाने और स्टेबिलिटी बढ़ाने के लिए वार्निश सिल्वर लीफ गोल्ड लीफ से कोट की जाती हैं। पुराने ज़माने में गोलियों को उनके गोल आकार की वजह से पसंद किया जाता था जिन्हें आसानी से निगला जा सकता था। लेकिन अब ये गोलियां कई कमियों की वजह से पुरानी हो गई हैं, जैसे: 1. गोलियों के घुलने का समय पक्का नहीं होता। ताज़ी बनी गोलियां पुरानी सूखी गोलियों के मुकाबले आसानी से घुल जाती हैं। सूखी गोलियां कम घुलती हैं और कभी-कभी G.I.T. से बिना घुले ही निकल जाती हैं। 2. एक जैसे साइज़ की गोलियां बनाना मुश्किल होता है। 3. एक जैसे वज़न की गोलियां बनाना मुमकिन नहीं है।
