PERCENTAGE CALCULATIONS ::
The pharmacopoeia has expressed percent in defining standards according to circumstances with any one of the four different meanings These are ::
1. Percent w/w (percentage Weight in Weight ) expresses the number of grammes of the active substance in 100 grammes of product .
2. Percent w/w (Percentage Weight in Volume ) expresses the number of grammes of the active substance in 100 millilitres of product .
3. Percent v/v (Percentage Volume in Volume ) expresses the number of millilitres of the active substance in 100 millilitres of product .
4. Percent v/w(Percentage Volume in Weight ) expresses the number of millilitres of the active substance in 100 grammes of product .
The Strength of solution of solids in liquids is expressed as percentage weight in volume of liquid in liquid as percentage volume in volume and of gases in liquids as percentage weight in weight .

फार्माकोपिया ने हालात के हिसाब से स्टैंडर्ड तय करते समय परसेंट को चार अलग-अलग मतलबों में से किसी एक से बताया है। ये हैं:
1. परसेंट w/w (परसेंटेज वेट इन वेट) 100 ग्राम प्रोडक्ट में एक्टिव सब्सटेंस के ग्राम की संख्या बताता है।
2. परसेंट w/w (परसेंटेज वेट इन वॉल्यूम) 100 ml प्रोडक्ट में एक्टिव सब्सटेंस के ग्राम की संख्या बताता है।
3. परसेंट v/v (परसेंटेज वॉल्यूम इन वॉल्यूम) 100 ml प्रोडक्ट में एक्टिव सब्सटेंस के मिलीलीटर की संख्या बताता है।
4. परसेंट v/w (परसेंटेज वॉल्यूम इन वेट) 100 ग्राम प्रोडक्ट में एक्टिव सब्सटेंस के मिलीलीटर की संख्या बताता है। द्रवों में ठोसों के विलयन की सामर्थ्य को द्रव में आयतन के प्रतिशत भार के रूप में, द्रव में आयतन के प्रतिशत भार के रूप में और द्रवों में गैसों की सामर्थ्य को भार के प्रतिशत भार के रूप में व्यक्त किया जाता है।
