 PAPER AND BOARD ::

Paper and board are used in various forms for packaging of pharmaceutical products They are used for preparing outer containers such as cartons boxes envelopes and drums to provide additional mechanical protection to other containers e,g, strip and blister packs of tablets capsules suppositories and pessaries may be packed in an outer paper board carton Collapsible tubes of ointments creams and gels as well as liquid medicines in sizes 500 ml and below may be packed in an other paper board carton Slide paper board boxes suitably lined may be used for extemporaneous dispensed suppositories pessaries and powders . 

CLOSURES ::

Closures are the devices by means of which containers can be opened and closed Proper closing of the container is necessary because ::

1. It prevents loss of material by spilling or volatilisation . 

2. It avoids contamination of the product from dirt microorganisms or insects , 

3. It prevents deterioration of the product from the effect of the environment such as moisture oxygen or carbon dioxide . 

Types of closures ::

Closures are of the following types .

1. Plug type 

2. Crown cap 

3. Push - fit cap 

4. Screw closures 

1.Plug type ::

The closure of this type is a push fit into the neck of the container e.g. cork or glass stopper Nowadays the plastic stoppers are used instead of cork or glass stopper Plastic stopper being unbreak able and flexible is used to ensure a good fit into the container . 

2. Crown cap ::

The cap is commonly used as crimped closure for beverage bottles . 

3. Push - fit cap ::

These are simple slide fit over the neck of the container These are made of plastic and are shaped in such a way that these must be stretched over the neck to fit on the container .

पेपर और बोर्ड का इस्तेमाल फार्मास्यूटिकल प्रोडक्ट्स की पैकेजिंग के लिए अलग-अलग तरह से किया जाता है। इनका इस्तेमाल बाहरी कंटेनर जैसे कार्टन, बॉक्स, लिफाफे और ड्रम बनाने के लिए किया जाता है ताकि दूसरे कंटेनर को एक्स्ट्रा मैकेनिकल प्रोटेक्शन मिल सके। जैसे, टैबलेट, कैप्सूल, सपोसिटरी और पेसरी के स्ट्रिप और ब्लिस्टर पैक बाहरी पेपर बोर्ड कार्टन में पैक किए जा सकते हैं। मलहम, क्रीम और जेल की कोलैप्सिबल ट्यूब के साथ-साथ 500 ml और उससे कम साइज़ की लिक्विड दवाएं दूसरे पेपर बोर्ड कार्टन में पैक की जा सकती हैं। स्लाइड पेपर बोर्ड बॉक्स जिनमें सही लाइनिंग हो, उनका इस्तेमाल बिना तैयारी के सपोसिटरी, पेसरी और पाउडर देने के लिए किया जा सकता है।

क्लोजर ::

क्लोजर वे डिवाइस हैं जिनसे कंटेनर खोले और बंद किए जा सकते हैं। कंटेनर को ठीक से बंद करना ज़रूरी है क्योंकि ::

1. यह गिरने या उड़ने से सामान के नुकसान को रोकता है। 2. यह गंदगी, सूक्ष्मजीवों या कीड़ों से उत्पाद को दूषित होने से बचाता है,

3. यह उत्पाद को पर्यावरण के प्रभाव जैसे नमी, ऑक्सीजन या कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड से खराब होने से बचाता है।

क्लोजर के प्रकार::

क्लोजर निम्न प्रकार के होते हैं।

1. प्लग टाइप

2. क्राउन कैप

3. पुश-फिट कैप

4. स्क्रू क्लोजर

1. प्लग टाइप::

इस प्रकार का क्लोजर कंटेनर की गर्दन में पुश फिट होता है जैसे कॉर्क या ग्लास स्टॉपर आजकल कॉर्क या ग्लास स्टॉपर के बजाय प्लास्टिक स्टॉपर का उपयोग किया जाता है प्लास्टिक स्टॉपर अटूट और लचीला होने के कारण कंटेनर में अच्छी तरह से फिट होने के लिए उपयोग किया जाता है।

2. क्राउन कैप::

कैप का आमतौर पर पेय पदार्थों की बोतलों के लिए क्रिम्प्ड क्लोजर के रूप में उपयोग किया जाता है।

3. पुश-फिट कैप ::

ये कंटेनर की गर्दन पर आसानी से स्लाइड होकर फिट हो जाते हैं। ये प्लास्टिक के बने होते हैं और इनका आकार इस तरह होता है कि इन्हें कंटेनर पर फिट होने के लिए गर्दन पर खींचना पड़ता है।
