Ashwagandha is used as hypotensive and depressant The alkaloids are antispasmodic and anthelmintic It has action on smooth muscles and hence used in asthama and also as uterine - sedative it is used as a tonic and an antitumour drug .
Substitutes :;
Market samples of aswagandha are found to contain roots of Withania coagulance. These roots can be differentiated from withania somnifera by presence of the isolated groups of non - lignified cells in xylem tissues microsphenoidal crystals in phelloderm and triseriate medullary rays .

अश्वगंधा का इस्तेमाल हाइपोटेंसिव और डिप्रेशन के तौर पर किया जाता है। एल्कलॉइड एंटीस्पास्मोडिक और एंथेलमिंटिक होते हैं। इसका स्मूद मसल्स पर असर होता है और इसलिए इसका इस्तेमाल अस्थमा में और यूटेराइन-सेडेटिव के तौर पर भी किया जाता है। इसका इस्तेमाल टॉनिक और एंटीट्यूमर दवा के तौर पर किया जाता है।
