1. Brazilian Ipecacuanha ::
(a) Roots ::
Colour : Dark brick red to dark brown .
Odour : Faint .
Taste : Bitter .
Size : Upto 150 mm in length and 6 mm in thickness .
Shape : Roots are found in tortuous pieces .
Extra Features ::
They are closely annulated externally ridges rounded and completely encircling roots Fracture is short in the bark and splintery in the wood pith is absent .
(b) Rhizomes ::
Colour : Brick red to dark brown .
Size : About 2 m in diameter and short attached to the roots .
Shape : Cylindrical .
Extra Features ::
They are wrinkled longitudinally and show the presence of prominent pith .
2. Panama Ipecacuanha ::
Colour : Greyish - brown to reddish - brown .
Odour and taste : Same as Brazilian variety .
Size : Characterised by large size upto 9 mm in thickness .
Shape : Cylindrical .
Extra Features ::
They are characterised by absence of annulations and presence of transverse ridge at an interval of 1 to 3 mm They are partially encircling the roots .

(a) जड़ें ::

साइज़: लगभग 2 m डायमीटर और जड़ों से जुड़ा हुआ छोटा।

साइज़ : 9 mm तक मोटाई वाले बड़े साइज़ की खासियत।
शेप : सिलिंड्रिकल।
एक्स्ट्रा फीचर्स ::
इनकी खासियत है कि इनमें एन्यूलेशन नहीं होते और 1 से 3 mm के गैप पर आड़ी लकीरें होती हैं। ये जड़ों को थोड़ा घेरे रहती हैं।
