VINCA CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS ::  

Vinca contains wide varieties of chemicals including the glycosides and alkaloids The indole - indoline alkaloids are very important constituents About 60 alkaloids have been isolated so far from different parts of vinca The important alkaloids with anticancer property are vincristine and vinblastine Vincristine is obtained in about 0.0002 % yield from the crude drug The other alkaloids present in the drug are ajmalicine serpentine lochnerine and tetrahydroalstonine The total alkaloidal content of the drug is about 1% of which only a fraction contains therapeutically active alkaloids .
    Both vinblastine and vincristine have the same structures with the difference that in vinblastine there is N- methyl group while in vincristine it is N- formyl group and both possess different activities The other alkaloids are vindoline vindolinine and catharanthine .


Uses :: 

Vincristine is used in treatment of leukaemia Vinblastine is used for the treatment of generalised Hodgkin s disease and chorionepithelioma Vinca also exhibits hypotensive and antidiabetic activity .

विंका के केमिकल तत्व ::

विंका में ग्लाइकोसाइड और एल्कलॉइड समेत कई तरह के केमिकल होते हैं। इंडोल-इंडोलिन एल्कलॉइड बहुत ज़रूरी तत्व हैं। विंका के अलग-अलग हिस्सों से अब तक लगभग 60 एल्कलॉइड अलग किए गए हैं। एंटीकैंसर प्रॉपर्टी वाले ज़रूरी एल्कलॉइड विंक्रिस्टाइन और विंब्लास्टाइन हैं। क्रूड दवा से लगभग 0.0002% यील्ड में विंक्रिस्टाइन मिलता है। दवा में मौजूद दूसरे एल्कलॉइड हैं अजमैलिसिन, सर्पेन्टाइन, लोचनेरिन और टेट्राहाइड्रोएल्सटोनिन। दवा में कुल एल्कलॉइडल कंटेंट लगभग 1% है, जिसमें से केवल एक हिस्से में ही थेराप्यूटिकली एक्टिव एल्कलॉइड होते हैं। विनब्लास्टाइन और विन्क्रिस्टाइन दोनों का स्ट्रक्चर एक जैसा होता है, बस फ़र्क यह है कि विन्ब्लास्टाइन में N-मिथाइल ग्रुप होता है जबकि विन्क्रिस्टाइन में N-फॉर्माइल ग्रुप होता है और दोनों की एक्टिविटी अलग-अलग होती हैं। दूसरे एल्कलॉइड विंडोलिन विंडोलिनिन और कैथरैन्थिन हैं।


उपयोग ::

विंक्रिस्टाइन का इस्तेमाल ल्यूकेमिया के इलाज में किया जाता है। विनब्लास्टाइन का इस्तेमाल जनरलाइज़्ड हॉजकिन डिज़ीज़ और कोरियोनिपिथेलियोमा के इलाज के लिए किया जाता है। विन्का हाइपोटेंसिव और एंटीडायबिटिक एक्टिविटी भी दिखाता है।
