 ORANGE OIL CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS :: 

Orange oil contains mainly (+) Limonene about 90 % and small amount of cetronellal citral and decanal about 3.0 % 

Chemical Test :: 

Solution of freshly prepared orange oil in dehydrated alcohol is neutral to litmus paper . 

Uses :: 

It is mainly used as a flavouring agent in perfumery and in the preparation of  Terepeneless orange oil . On storage orange oil deteriorates acquiring disagreeable terebinthinate taste and flavour . 

Terepeneless Orange Oil ::

This is prepared from orange oil by concentrating in vacuum so as to remove most of the terpenes or by solvent partition . 

    It contains 24 - 30 % of  aldehydes calculated as decanal . 

It is 25 times stronger than the orange oil in flavour . 

It is mainly used as flavour .

संतरे के तेल में मुख्य रूप से (+) लिमोनेन लगभग 90% और थोड़ी मात्रा में सेट्रोनेलल सिट्रल और डेकनल लगभग 3.0% होता है।

केमिकल टेस्ट ::

डीहाइड्रेटेड अल्कोहल में ताज़ा तैयार संतरे के तेल का घोल लिटमस पेपर के प्रति न्यूट्रल होता है।

उपयोग ::

इसका इस्तेमाल मुख्य रूप से परफ्यूमरी में फ्लेवरिंग एजेंट के तौर पर और टेरेपीनलेस संतरे के तेल को बनाने में किया जाता है। स्टोर करने पर संतरे का तेल खराब हो जाता है और इसमें खराब टेरेबिंथिनेट स्वाद और फ्लेवर आ जाता है।

टेरेपीनलेस संतरे का तेल ::

इसे संतरे के तेल से वैक्यूम में गाढ़ा करके या सॉल्वेंट पार्टीशन से तैयार किया जाता है ताकि ज़्यादातर टरपीन निकल जाएं।

इसमें 24 - 30% एल्डिहाइड होते हैं जिन्हें डेकनल के रूप में गिना जाता है।

यह फ्लेवर में संतरे के तेल से 25 गुना ज़्यादा मज़बूत होता है।

इसका इस्तेमाल मुख्य रूप से फ्लेवर के रूप में किया जाता है।
