 SNUFFS :: 

These are finely divided solid dosage forms of medicament which are inhaled into nostrils for its antiseptic bronchiodilator and decongestion action . 

Dentifrlces ( Tooth powders ) ::

These are applied with the help of a tooth brush for cleaning the surface of the teeth They contain a suitable detergent or soap some abrasive substance and a suitable flavour The abrasive agents such as calcium sulphate magnesium carbonate sodium carbonate and sodium chloride are used in fine powder A strong abrasive substance should however not be used as it may damage the tooth structure . 

    The following are some of the commonly used formulae of dentifrice . 

LIQUID DENTIFRICE 

Hard soap powdered                             60 g 

Saccharin                                                2 g 

Amaranth solution                                  10 ml 

Cinnamon oil                                           5 ml 

Peppermint oil                                         5 ml 

Clove oil                                                 10 ml 

Alcohol                                                   750 ml 

Purified water to make                           1000 ml 

Dissolve the soap saccharin and the oils in the alcohol Add the amaranth solution and sufficient water to make 1000 ml Sprinkle on the moist tooth brush and use as dentifrice . 

DENTIFRICE (NF XI) 

Hard soap in fine powder             50 g 

Precipitated calcium carbonate     935 g 

Saccharin sodium                         2 g 

Peppermint oil                              4 ml 

Cinnamon oil                                2 ml 

Methyl salicylate                           8 ml 

Triturate the saccharin sodium the oils and methyl salicylate with about one half of the precipitated calcium carbonate and mix the soap with the remaining portion of the precipitated calcium carbonate mix the two powders thoroughly and then pass it through a fine sieve .

स्नफ़्स ::

ये दवा के बारीक कटे हुए ठोस डोज़ फ़ॉर्म हैं जिन्हें एंटीसेप्टिक ब्रोंकियोडायलेटर और कंजेशन दूर करने के काम के लिए नाक में सूंघा जाता है।

डेंटिफ़्रिस (टूथ पाउडर) ::

इन्हें दांतों की सतह को साफ़ करने के लिए टूथ ब्रश की मदद से लगाया जाता है। इनमें एक सही डिटर्जेंट या साबुन, कुछ रगड़ने वाली चीज़ और एक सही स्वाद होता है। कैल्शियम सल्फेट, मैग्नीशियम कार्बोनेट, सोडियम कार्बोनेट और सोडियम क्लोराइड जैसे रगड़ने वाले एजेंट बारीक पाउडर के रूप में इस्तेमाल होते हैं। हालांकि, एक तेज़ रगड़ने वाली चीज़ का इस्तेमाल नहीं करना चाहिए क्योंकि यह दांतों की बनावट को नुकसान पहुंचा सकती है।

डेंटिफ़्रिस के कुछ आम तौर पर इस्तेमाल होने वाले फ़ॉर्मूले नीचे दिए गए हैं। 

लिक्विड डेंटिफ्राइस

हार्ड सोप पाउडर 60 g

सैकरिन 2 g

ऐमरैन्थ सॉल्यूशन 10 ml

दालचीनी का तेल 5 ml

पुदीना का तेल 5 ml

लौंग का तेल 10 ml

अल्कोहल 750 ml

1000 ml बनाने के लिए साफ़ पानी

अल्कोहल में सोप सैकरिन और तेल घोलें। ऐमरैन्थ सॉल्यूशन और 1000 ml बनाने के लिए काफ़ी पानी डालें। गीले टूथब्रश पर छिड़कें और डेंटिफ्राइस की तरह इस्तेमाल करें।

डेंटिफ्राइस (NF XI)

हार्ड साबुन बारीक पाउडर 50 g

प्रेसिपिटेटेड कैल्शियम कार्बोनेट 935 g

सैकरिन सोडियम 2 g

पेपरमिंट ऑयल 4 ml

दालचीनी का तेल 2 ml

मिथाइल सैलिसिलेट 8 ml

सैकरिन सोडियम, तेल और मिथाइल सैलिसिलेट को प्रेसिपिटेटेड कैल्शियम कार्बोनेट के लगभग आधे हिस्से के साथ पीस लें और साबुन को प्रेसिपिटेटेड कैल्शियम कार्बोनेट के बचे हुए हिस्से के साथ मिलाएं। दोनों पाउडर को अच्छी तरह मिलाएं और फिर इसे एक बारीक छलनी से छान लें।
