Shatavari consists of dried roots and the leaves of the plant known as Asparagus racemosus wild belonging to family liliaceae it contains not less than 0.1 % of shatavarin IV on dried basis . 

Geographical Distribution ::

It is found distributed throughout tropical Asia Africa and Australia in india it is found in Himalayas upto an altitude of 1300 to 1400 m and all tropical parts of india shatavari occurs as wild plant in dry and deciduous forests of maharashtra . 

Cultivation and Collection ::

It is cultivated in gardens as a potted plant for its graceful feathery leaves and flowers . Shatavari bears white fragrant flowers in the form of simple racemes fruits are red coloured berries .

यह पूरे ट्रॉपिकल एशिया, अफ्रीका और ऑस्ट्रेलिया में पाया जाता है। भारत में यह हिमालय में 1300 से 1400 m की ऊंचाई तक और भारत के सभी ट्रॉपिकल हिस्सों में पाया जाता है। शतावरी महाराष्ट्र के सूखे और पतझड़ वाले जंगलों में जंगली पौधे के रूप में पाया जाता है।

खेती और कलेक्शन ::

इसे इसकी सुंदर पंखदार पत्तियों और फूलों के लिए बगीचों में गमले में उगाया जाता है। शतावरी में सफेद खुशबूदार फूल होते हैं जो सिंपल रेसमीस के रूप में होते हैं, फल लाल रंग के बेरी होते हैं।
